Dear Member,
It’s a New Year and we hope that everyone has a great 2010 ahead of you. Remember, by getting someone to join in January, your dues will be offset by the amount they pay in dues. 2010 dues are due before the 31st of January. Timely payment will get you 4 free rounds of skeet or trap. Invoices have been mailed to all members.
Our club is much more than a place for just our members to shoot. Thanks to your support, and the hard work of several of our members, we had well over 500 participants involved in a variety of activities this year. Our Rifle and Pistol Shoots had over 300 people taking part in them. The Women On Target program for the ladies had 130 participants. We hosted over 100 kids for the Quail Unlimited Kids Day, Jakes Day (NWTF) & the visit from the Masonic Home for Kids in Macon. We had shoots to help raise money for charities like The Georgia Diabetes Foundation & The Boy Scouts. We have also worked with a few of the military units on Ft. Gordon, providing the troops with training. As you can see, through your support the club is much more than a place where the members and public just come to shoot.
We have a new slate of officers for the coming year: Tom Jackson - President; Marion Butler – Vice President; Mark Sullivan – Secretary, Joe Entrekin – Treasurer. In addition to the officers, other board members are Bill Wahl, Gary Bennett, Mitch Frank, and Buddy Harrison.
January Activities
January 2 ATA Trap Shoot : Open to all, but you must join the ATA. It will be 3 events including singles, handicap & doubles. Cost $21 plus fees per event. Start at 10 AM.
January 23 USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) Pistol Shoot : Practical shooting measures the shooters ability to shoot rapidly and accurately through obstacle laden courses. The shooter moves, negotiates, runs, takes cover, and speed reloads through the stages as fast as their skill will allow. If this fast paced shooting sounds like fun, come out and give it a try. Start at 8:30 AM. Cost $5 for members and $12 non-members plus USPSA fees. The Rifle & Pistol Range will be closed during this event.
January 30 ICORE (International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts) Shoot : This is a revolver only shoot. Any revolver & holster will do. We will be shooting stages for a postal match, and will have applications for you to join ICORE. We will start at 8:30 AM. Cost is $5 for club members and $12 for non-members, plus fees. The Pistol Range will be closed during this event.
NOTE: If you would like to get your newsletter via e-mail, please let us know your email address. You can e-mail me at stevesgun@comcast.net. Using e-mail instead of the postal service will save the club significant costs for the year.
